SELL FAQs

We’ve made our selling process straightforward and simple:

  1. Click Start Selling on our homepage or click on “Sell” on the top menu from any page then select the device you’d like to sell.
  2. Once you have found your device you will be prompted to answer a few questions and will be given an instant quote.
  3. Tell us how you want to be paid (Venmo, PayPal, or check) and if you need packaging materials.
  4. Click place order and you will receive an Order # and confirmation email.
  5. Once your order is placed you will receive a prepaid shipping label and instructions via email explaining how to prepare & ship your device. With SmartphonesPLUS shipping is always free!
  6. Once we receive the device we’ll inspect it to be sure it is the correct model, condition, etc. that was quoted. If it is not, we will send a revised offer which you can accept or decline. If you decline a revised offer we ship it back for free!
  7. If everything checks out, we’ll send your cash the same day the order is processed!

If you are selling your device in-store we will inspect your device on the spot and pay out cash or store credit. 

Your device can be categorized into one of the following conditions:

 

Excellent:

  • Device looks brand new.
  • Has absolutely no scratches, scuffs, or marks.
  • Battery health must be above 85% (86% or higher).
  • Absolutely no cracks or chips on the device.
  • Absolutely no screen burn, white dots, or other pixel damage.
  • Software is not modified or rooted.
  • The device is fully functional.

Good: 

  • Device shows light signs of wear.
  • Contains few light scratches or marks.
  • Absolutely no cracks or chips on the device.
  • Absolutely no screen burn, white dots, or other pixel damage.
  • Software is not modified or rooted.
  • The device is fully functional.

Fair:

  • Device shows moderate to excessive signs of wear such as deep or many scratches, marks, scuffs, or dents.
  • Absolutely no cracks or chips on the device.
  • Absolutely no screen burn, white dots, or other pixel damage.
  • Software is not modified or rooted.
  • The device is fully functional.

Broken:

  • Cracked, chipped, or other damage to the screen, back glass, camera lens, frame or anywhere else on the device.
  • Screen burn, ghost image, white dots, or other pixel damage.
  • Bad port(s), bad battery, water damage, or any other hardware or software issues.
  • Broken Face/Touch ID or Biometrics.
  • Modified software or rooted.
  • All parts of the device must be included.

No Power:

  • The device does not fully power on, charge, or show any signs of life.
  • All parts of the device must be included.

No. We cannot accept devices that have been reported as lost or stolen. The device you sell must be yours to sell and must not have been reported.

We take the protection of your personal information very seriously. We can assure you that we only use this information in accordance with our privacy policy. For more information please read our privacy policy.

  • Any information left on your device will be erased and the device will be reset to factory settings.

***If you do not remove the iCloud, Google, or Samsung account from your device, the device will be returned to you or recycled, as it cannot be activated by another user. If you are having trouble removing your account, please contact our support team.

Prepare your device for shipment:

  • Remove your iCloud or Google/Samsung account and all passwords. 
    • Please note: We do not accept devices that are locked or reported lost or stolen.
  • Deactivate carrier service and pay off any remaining balance on your account.
    • Please contact your carrier to pay any balance due on your device or to terminate service. We may send you a revised offer or have to return your device if this has not been completed.
  • Backup files if necessary then factory reset your device.
    • We recommend that you backup any files or photos that you would like saved and then factory restore the device.
  • Remember to remove SD or SIM cards from your device
  1. If you are using your own box, make sure that it is durable and use enough packing materials to protect your device. (Suggested packing material: cardboard box, padded envelope, bubble wrap, newspaper, foam, etc.)
  2. Print your shipping label and tape it to the top of your box. Your shipping label is sent to the email address provided to SmartphonesPLUS at checkout.
  3. Drop off your box at your local USPS location. To find the nearest shipping location click here.

Yes! It is a collective effort to take care of our environment. We will accept devices you wish to recycle and will dispose of them properly.

Yes, we pay much more than you’d think for damaged or cracked cell phones, tablets, and more!

Yes, we do accept water damaged devices. These fall under our “Broken” or “No Power” category depending on if the phone fully works or not. Many times water damaged devices can seem to work normally that is why it is best to make sure you check the water damage indicator on your device to see if it has been in contact with water.

Yes, you can put more than one device in a box. Just make sure that you get a quote on each device. Multiple items in one box tend to bump into each other which may cause damage so make sure to package them well with extra packing materials.

Upon receipt of your device, we will inspect it, and as long as it is in the quoted condition, you will be paid the same day (within 24 hours of receipt). If you choose to be paid by PayPal, you will see the cash arrive into your account immediately after inspection. If you choose payment via check, you can expect to receive it within 2-7 business days after device inspection.

 

Your payment may be delayed if we find it is not in the quoted condition.

If you are unable to find your device on our site submit a request for a custom quote. Be sure to include the brand, model, condition, GB size, carrier, and any other information to help us determine the value. Our team will reach out to you as soon as possible with a quote and help with any additional questions.

Yes! You may ship using your own box. You will still receive a free shipping label for your box. We actually recommend using your own box as it is an eco-friendly option and may be faster. Just be sure that you pack your device well. If you have any doubts you can always contact our support team, and we will send you a box and packaging materials.

No problem! You can choose the box and packing material option during checkout. Shipping will still be free! If you forgot to choose that option, contact our support team and we will send you the necessary materials.

Shipping is always free! We will send you a free shipping label by email or mail for you to ship your device.

You do not need to include the accessories with your device unless it is specified. We do not offer more for phone accessories. Although, if you are selling a MacBook, Surface, smartwatch, gaming console, etc. your offer will be reduced if you do not include the AC adapter, charger, keyboard, or band, if applicable.

Yes, you will receive your package’s tracking number by email and will be able to track the package through the mail carrier’s website. We will also give you an update once your device has been received and processed.

We offer payment by Venmo, PayPal, or check.

There is no limit. If you are sending multiple items you can use our Bulk Trade-In option. You can find this under BusinessPLUS in the main menu / header.

To find your phone’s model go to settings > about phone. You can also look on the original box or on certain devices the model number is on the back.

We will send you an email notifying you of a revised offer. You must accept or decline the new offer. If you decline the offer, we will return your device free of charge.

Because the value of electronic devices decrease over time your offer does expire. Your cash offer will be valid for 30 days and must be delivered to our facility within the 30 days.  After this time you will be required to receive an updated quote.

We have an industry-leading price lock period. Your offer date will only be valid for 30 days. After this time you will be required to receive an updated quote.

Yes, you can sell your engraved devices.

Unfortunately, we do not offer more if your phone is under warranty. We cannot legally transfer warranties from person to person.

SmartphonesPLUS takes environmental sustainability very seriously. In our stores, we try to be as paperless as possible by sending e-receipts. We also recycle broken phone parts and old batteries from repairs. We accept unused electronic devices at the end of their life cycle so that we can properly dispose of them. Although we may not be able to offer cash for certain devices you can send them to us for recycling. We also reuse and recycle our SmartphonesPLUS packaging material, because of this we ask you to take care when handling your SmartphonesPLUS device box. REPAIR FAQs

At SmartphonesPLUS we make repairing your phone or tablet easy. Click Start A Repair on the homepage then simply select your device, let us know what the issues are, and book an appointment time that works best for you.

Click on Repair in the header and select your device. Then select from the repair options available for your device. You can also contact us and speak directly with a technician for professional repair advice.

The cost of the repair will vary depending on your device’s model as well as the exact repair it needs.

 

Most repairs can be completed within an hour. However, there are some repairs that can take longer. We will always keep you updated on your repair’s expected completion.

 

Yes, many times water damage can be fixed. The success rate is about 60%. However, water damage repairs are not guaranteed or covered by a warranty.

 

Do not try to turn the device on or push any buttons. This could cause a short circuit and could further damage your device. Try to send your device in or come to our store as soon as possible. The probability that it can be repaired will decrease the longer you wait.

 

You can generally find your phone’s model by going to settings > about phone. You can also look on the original box or sometimes it is on the back of the phone.

  • Soft OLEDs are are a bit more expensive and are have similar performance to OEM (original) displays. They are more durable than hard OLEDs as they are made with a softer, more flexible glass substrate.
  • Hard OLEDs are cheaper, have similar performance to OEM displays, but are more fragile due to being made with a harder glass substrate.

An OLED (organic light-emitting diode) is a higher quality screen than an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). OLED screens have a higher color contrast and are more efficient than LCD screens. This makes OLED screens better for battery life. We would recommend getting an OLED screen replacement as it is generally better for your phone overall. However, we offer the LCD screen replacement as an economical option.

 

Payment is collected after the repair service is completed.

 

Generally, when the screen goes black, but the phone or other device is still functional (vibrates, charges, etc.) it will need a screen replacement. Sometimes when a phone is dropped or damaged different colored lines can appear on the screen. This usually can be repaired with a screen replacement too.

We do not repair smartwatches at this time as these repairs are generally not cost-effective. However, you can trade in your broken smartwatch for an upgraded one with us.

The devices that are sold by SmartphonesPLUS are lightly used or have been refurbished and are restored to normal working order. Some devices may contain light wear or scratches depending on the condition. All devices will be fully wiped and reset to factory default settings.

 

We offer a 30-day warranty on every device we sell.

We take quality very seriously. Every device we sell must have a 100% score on our rigorous quality testing. We test everything from the screen and battery to the vibration motor.

We do charge sales tax. This will be calculated on your order at checkout. Any discounts on your order are also calculated at checkout unless stated or shown.

 

What we have in stock changes on a day-to-day basis. Generally we keep Apple iPhones, Samsung Galaxy phones, Google Pixel phones, Apple iPads, smartwatches, MacBooks, and accessories in stock. Occasionally, we experience high demand for certain items. This may cause items to become unavailable. Yes! We offer free standard shipping on all of our products. If you need your order expedited feel free to contact us.

Yes! Simply select in-store pickup at checkout and we’ll usually have your order ready within 24-hours.

We suggest that you contact your carrier or service provider for activation. Currently, we do not offer service plans and are unable to activate devices. If you need assistance, contact our support team and we’d be happy to help guide you in the right direction.

  • Our unlocked phones are able to be used on any of the major US carriers including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular, etc. 
  • GSM Unlocked phones can be used on AT&T, T-Mobile, and other GSM networks. 
  • You will still need to check with your carrier to be sure the model of phone is compatible with the network. 

If there is a carrier stated in the title of a phone such as: iPhone 8 64GB (AT&T), for example, then that phone is only able to be activated on AT&T.

Once your order has been placed, we cannot change where it will be shipped. If you have noticed an error in your shipping address please contact us.

We accept returns requests for 30 days following your purchase, as long as the item is in the same condition in which it was purchased. To return an item, simply contact us with the reason for your return. We will provide a prepaid return label. A restocking fee may be subtracted from your return.
